On blasphemy

Do those who outlaw blasphemy
Believe they’ll reap divine rewards
For sheltering some deity

From naughty deeds and saucy words?

Do those who tell on blasphemers
Believe they do a holy chore
That earns applause above the stars

Where gods stand up to clap and cheer?

Do those who punish blasphemers
Believe that doing it sustains
Their faith, or do they lust for power

Or just get thrills from casting stones?

Your answers may be overheard.
Discretion would not be amiss.
Be careful with your choice of words.

They may be seen as blasphemous.
